26 lbs...that's a nice little spring ya got there...Semi secret location eh mreagle...? LoL, now you are going to get 10 pm's from people on the board.... ;)

Don't worry I won't do that to ya, but I am wondering how ya caught it...were you guys barfishing, or bottom bouncing, or backtrolling, or chucking spoons, or you know...what were you using...?

Were you fishing from a boat? Give us the details, without releasing the secret location of course... ;)

Thx,

rib

I would prefer to bar fish but the clarity is no good.
When you have bar fished for two days straight without getting a hookup and you have planned your entire vacation around a Fraser trip for springs, and all you want is one fish to bring home to your family and friends, I can understand that the urge to floss may be overwhelming. I just wish those "local" folks who go to Scale Bar day in and day out and come home with a 25 pound chromer each day would consider bar fishing. You know, baby steps.....

BTW, I saw 5 springs landed in an hour at Scale on Friday. All were flossed. The dude at the tackle shop in town said they have been "hooking" 10-15 springs a day in that gong show. Even with DFO helicopters flying overhead and pointing fingers. :naughty:

Like I've been stating for a long time ....... really there are 2 different kinds of "sports" fishermen these days ......... those that actually do it for the "SPORT" ...... and those that do it for the "MEAT".

You can make up all the excuses you want ....... on a fishing trip holiday, no fish, didn't wanna go home skunked ..... it's funny how some thow ethics out the window for 20 (+/-) pounds of fish. At least they talk a good talk when it comes to ethics ....... too bad they don't live up to the talk.

mreagle,

I have a couple questions for you if you don't mind,

  • Have you seen any sockeye caught by the anglers around you while you've been out there...?
  • How many people would you estimate were using the same method that you were...?
  • Did anyone release the fish they caught...? Just out of curiousity.
  • Did DFO visit the area you were fishing and say anything to you or the anglers around you...?

Thanks for your time, I understand it must be tough to come back here and report and read when members have so plainly voiced their displeasure with your methods, but at the same time, you made the choice to fish that way.

I would appreciate it though if you could take the time to address the questions I've listed above.

Please, and thank you,

rib
