Went for a drive up past Hope to check out some lakes this morning and the river is flowing HUUUUUGE. How long before it becomes fishable? whats your guess?

I was out on Monday and I personally haven't seen it flowing so high. looked like the log booms were about to come apart..not good for the unsuspecting boat anchored for sturgeon! My guess is early July.

Its fishable now for Sturgeon, just gotta be careful and keep one eye up river at all times, freshet brings a smorgasbord of goodies into the river along with the debris .

Ya, it was dope out there this past week for sturgeon ;D it was like white water running at some parts near agassiz - hope, whcih was a long trek from Harrison to Hope I'll tell ya haha also hit a rather large azz tree too, good thing I was not in a boat with a prop lol that could of been ugly! Water was down today I only landed 9 today in 5 hours biggest were 6'5 and 6'2 to the fork.

driving back from kamloops along the fraser it looked like chocolate milk, i've never fished for sturgies before, what bait do u use for them in these conditions?

Conditions don't really matter. With sturgeon time of year is more important for what bait you use. Right now I would say the best would be real oolies. If you can get them that is.

Sturgie fishing has been pretty good for us lately...getting better every week it seems.... like it has been said, keep an eye up river and fish with what is running in the river now.... :thumbup:
