Salmon Fishing Report
Chinook size restrictions are now lifted

Chinook fishing has been fair to good this past week. We are hearing of some very large fish being caught. On Friday we heard of a 50 lb and 48 lb Chinook so it looks like a few early Harrison fish are starting to arrive.

We will be on the water all week fishing for both Chinook and Sturgeon. If your wanting to get out this weekend we still have a few boats available.
Sockeye fishing remains closed but if you want to do some sockeye fishing and catch & release there is a sockeye mortality study-taking place on the Fraser at Grassy Bar.
The Fraser Salmon & Watershed Program (FSWP) in conjunction with the Department of Fisheries & Oceans (DFO) is conducting a sockeye hook and release pilot study in the Fraser River to determine the short term (24 hour) mortality of sockeye caught and released in recreational fisheries.
A contract biologist, Jim Thomas of JO Thomas & Associates (JOT), will be responsible for the operational aspects of the study.
We are seeking interested volunteers to assist us in the study. We need approximately 35 anglers each day of the study. If you are interested please join us at the location and time noted below.
Meeting Location and Time: Island 22 boat launch each day of the study at 8:00 AM
Location of Study: Grassy Bar: A portion of the bar will be marked off and used solely for the purpose of the study
Timing of Study: three 5 daytime periods starting August 5th, August 18th and August 29th

Trout Fishing Report
Trout fishing has been fair to good for small to medium sized trout. Both the Pitt and the Lillooet rivers offer a good fly-fishing opportunity for those looking for a more remote wilderness experience. While fishing for trout there is a good chance at catching a salmon as both these rivers are now seeing good numbers of salmon returning.

We offer fully guided fly-fishing trips on the Lillooet River, Pitt River and some remote lakes within 2 hours drive of the Fraser Valley. Take advantage of our 30 years of angling experience and join us for an adventure of a lifetime.

Sturgeon

Sturgeon fishing has improved from last week, our largest fish was 7 ft 4 inches caught be the Whitmarsh group and lots of fish in the 4 to 6 ft range. Lyle and the boys from Calgary just headed home after 4 days of sturgeon fishing. During their trip they managed to land over 40 sturgeon which is not bad for August. 3 of those 40 were over 7 ft and another 6 were over 6 ft. Considering that last week we were having trouble finding fish, they did quite well.

If you're looking to get out onto the water over the next month, sturgeon fishing is one fishery you should give a try. We are starting to fill up for dates for September, October and November so if you are planning on fishing with us during peak season, book soon to not be disappointed.

Vedder River
The Vedder was high and dirty this past week and we have had considerable rain the past two days, best to Call Hubs at 604-859-8316 to get an update report.

Vancouver Saltwater Report

The local saltwater fishing has been slow this past week; the gulf islands are also slower than normal. Our Saltwater guides have been catching 1 to 3 fish per day mostly fishing in around the Vancouver Harbour and south end of Bowen Island.

We just picked up our new Hells Canyon Marine Jet Boat a couple weeks ago. The boat was custom built in Clarkston Washington by some of the best boat builders in the business. Our new 22 ft stick steer is much the same as our current HCM with a few modifications such as diamond plate floor, custom storage lockers and larger seats. This boat is stick steer like our other HCM. If you’re in the market for a new boat, click here.
Our Jet Boat Tour business is really starting to take off since the launch of our new website. We will be offering jet boat tours and guiding fishing in the Fraser canyon starting this weekend and now that sockeye fishing is open, we might add a little salmon fishing into our canyon trips.
