Once again spring is upon us and the fishing opportunities will start to expand with the coming of the warmer weather.

The Fraser River is in nice shape right now and some fantastic Sturgeon fishing and early Cutthroat trout action is being enjoyed by anglers.

Sturgeon fishing has been excellent the last few weeks and some good numbers of fish are being caught from Hope to the rivers lower reaches. Our early trips have found good success on a variety of baits and weather has finally started to warm up and make for more enjoyable days on the water. We have some open days in April and early May, so please call if you would like to join us for a fantastic day of Sturgeon fishing.

With the onset of spring comes the annual migration of salmon fry down the Fraser River. This season we are experiencing a little later arrival of the fry, which should extend the good opportunities to catch Cutthroat trout right up until the river is in full freshet. If you would like to try your hand at fly fishing for Cutthroat trout in the beautiful Fraser Valley, Bent Rods can accommodate 2 anglers per day in our specially designed “cutty hunter” boat. Call us if you would like give this fishery a try.

Steelhead fishing has been very good again this season providing the rivers are in fishable shape. We have had more than our fair share of rain and high water lately so only the anglers able to work with these conditions have been having good success. At Bent Rods we have worked hard at finding Jigs to attract fish in the high water. This has resulted in the design of a number of new Jigs which are now available on our website. With April comes some of the best Steelhead opportunities of the season, multi fish days are common and often the biggest Steelhead of the season are caught in this month. Also with the warmer weather comes the ability to better attract Steelhead to strike at flies. In April we often carry both gear rods and spey rods and always try the flies first in water that suits that approach. Bent Rods still has some days open for steelhead trips, if you are interested in a great day chasing Steelhead, contact us and we can arrange for a fantastic trip.

Looking forward to another great spring of fishing in the Fraser Valley!

Bent Rods and keep our rivers clean!
