I'm coming over from the Island this weekend to go sturgeon fishing with my dad. Never tried this so it should be fun however I just bought a new fly rod so I really want to head out to a local river and try for salmon on Saturday.

Never been to any of the lower mainland rivers. What river would be the best bet right now and for what species of fish? It sounds from some of the posts that pink fishing is starting to slow in the lower fraser but may still be good in the Chilliwack area. Also sounds like some coho are up there but may be early in the run.

How about Peg Leg for the fly? I am constantly reading about this spot on this site and it sounds like the upper part may still be good for pinks on the fly. Can anyone give me basic directions to get there.

Anyone try the Seymour lately as that is down the street from where my dad lives.

mostly beat up pinks in the Seymour, should be coho soon, but still early, and water is low. try the vedder, if you can stand the anticipated weekend gong show. pray that it rains an inch or so Friday night.

I'm fairly new to fishing so..i've been trying around the second trailer park on 285th just down from the dam. I've seen coho's and chum jumping around, but maybe 1 or 2 pinks rolling out of the water. going to try again tonight with some jigs and spinners, but i don't think there's any pink in there. figuring they bypass the stave because of the dreeging they been doing near the dam.
