FRASER RIVER - The water levels have come up quite and by the end of the weekend there should be no gravel showing, if it hasn't covered it already. For those that don't know, the Island 22 boat launch is now closed till the flood threat is over and or clean up is done. Launches available are; Jesperson, Gill road, Old Orchard, Ferry Island and Kilby. If the river reaches flood stage, expect them to be un usable. Of late sturgeon fishing has been excellent and we have been getting fish steadily on out charters.
CHEHALIS RIVER - Opens June first! Summer Steelhead are the main attraction this time of year and with higher water levels, steel should be throughout the system.
HARRISON RIVER - The Harrison river will be very high due to the Fraser river levels and the trout will be hanging out close to shore. Their will likely be a few fry around but most have already migrated to the ocean. Remember, all wild fish in rivers and streams must be released unharmed!
LAKES - Interior and Cariboo lakes are all fishing good. Warm weather, lots of hatches equals great stillwater fishing. Chironomids, May fly nymphs, dragons and look for some damsel nymphs starting the migration. Should be a great month for stillwater diehards, so get out there before the water temperatures get to high.
CHILLIWACK/VEDDER RIVER - Closed to July 1.
Tight loops,
Rick Baerg
