Richie and I hit Haynes Lake (near McCulloch Lake off of Highway 33) yesterday. The weather was spectacular – :thumbup:sunny, about 17 degrees, but a little windy. There were lots of people taking advantage of the sunny Fall weather. The drive into the lake was a little rough. A 2WD could make it in but coming back out would be tricky and you need decent clearance. The water temperature was about 47 degrees. We started trolling green leeches and had two hits and one nice 15 inch bow landed. After a while we switched to burgundy rabbit strip leeches on a sinking line and the action picked up considerably. After they got tired of looking at the rabbit fur, we switched to a burgundy and black wolly bugger with some flash and we couldn’t keep them off. After 4 hours we had landed over fifteen fish ranging from 12 to 16 inches. I even stuck a couple with a dry fly as we headed in for the evening.
