HOWARD LAKE: Found this lake in a guide that I have...it's situated south of the west end of Canim Lake. The access is by a 4-5km rough, steep and troublesome (especially in wet weather) stretch of 4x4 road. I am thinking of givin' 'er a go this month. If anybody has some info on this lake (fly choices) feel free to PM me. Thanks in advance! Cheers! -Nathan in NW :D

I know this lake well.

Have been up a couple of times this year. Choronomids have been good both times. Black or brown with copper ribbing.
I have also had good success other years using leeches. The road is not as bad as they say. I would hit this lake soon as the weather gets warmer the fishing slows down.
Fish the many weed beds at the far end of the lake after you go through the shallow channel.
Good luck. Let me know how you make out.

Thanks for the help galpin99! I'm wondering if the last week of June is too late. I know the weather has been unsettled and a little cooler than normal up there for this time of year. Do you live in the interior? Cuz a weather update would help me out before I head up! Altho Berry's Bait & Tackle fishing report says: Don't plan your interior trip around the weather...the weather swings haven't really affected the fishing all that much this early season. I'll be sure to report about my trip.
Cheers and thanks again galpin99! -Nathan in NW

Ya the weather hasn't affected anything, its been pretty cool so far, so the end of the month should still be good. The sedges are coming out now too and would be worth a try.
I live in 100 Mile House and the extended forcast calls for little change for the next week. I'll be out this weekend on one of our small local lakes.

Just got back from 100 mile and talked to some guys that fished Howard one day. Said it was slow but a lot of the lakes were moody last week as the weather wasn't the greatest. They caught a few smaller fish but nothing big. Best lake was Lorin as 2-3.5lb fish steady. Donnolly, Preacher were slow. Might all pick up by the time you go.
