Stone has offered a brand new fly reel to one of our lucky members for free, and all he asks is that any member nominate another member of the forum in public. This contest has been open for over a week now and only one member has stepped up to publicly thank and praise his fishing partner! I know there are members on this site who organize fishouts for BCFR, who gather prizes for our events, who take out new members and show them our rivers and lakes, who share their fly patterns, boat rides, wisdom, companionship and sometimes scotch. These are the people we want you to praise and acknowledge. In exchange for this, your mentor, friend or just someone you admire can walk away with a brand new reel and the knowledge that they are appreciated. C'mon folks, step right up and let us know of a member of BCFR who has touched your fishing life in a positive way. http://www.bcfishingreports.com/forum/index.php/topic,9302.0.html

I dont know anyone personnally on this website and unfortunately dont have any mentors but can we nominate based on informative postings and constant contributions. I would love to do that because there are many people on here who contribute great unselfish advice and reports. Pretty much everything newbees are looking for!

wopper-check the link in the first post. The important thing we are looking for is how a member has helped you. If that is by posting good helpful information, that certainly seems to qualify.

and as you can see, no one is replying to your post as well.
Personally, I didn't because I have learned so much in this forum from so many different people. Of course there is someone that stands up for his nice and friendly attitude, but to call these people "mentors" is a bit to much for me.
Also, I was expecting nominations from people who are in this forum longer than I do, most likely these people would have had more time to meet with others and be deeply thankful to some of the members.

Now, I am SURE that there are so many people here that deserve this nomination. So, the interesting question is: why people do not stand up and and make their own statement? My guess is that these people may not feel comfortable to nominate one single person if they had chance to interact and learn from so many others as well. Or, these people may be not comfortable to stand up and make a statement, something that requires a certain personality which may not corespnd exactly to the image they gave in this forum while hiding behind their keyboards.

I may nominate one person. I need to see what the level of nomination is.

Cheer,
G

I just realized you posted it here as well as in the Freshwater Fishing Discussion - General. Here is my comment to this (copied and pasted from there):

I have been reading and posting on this site for many years. I have shared my fishing reports, bitched and vented on many issues and stuck both feet in my mouth many times. I have said to my self many times that I'm selling my boat because I don't need the river BS any more. Many times after I cooled down I reread the posts from professori and ribwart and some years back from stone and realize how linear and thin my knowledge of angling and the fishery are. I want the aforementioned guys to know that you really do make a difference and steer the fishermen of good will to try to do better! The effort and commitment you guys show year in and year out is unbelievable!

they put in the time for you now its your chance to give back with a little typing
