I haven't fished the upper Fraser in a LONG time and would like to get out for some Sockeye action this week. I DON'T have a boat and therfore need any info on shore accessable fishing spots.

I flyfish and use gear as well

Any info on some good spots would be greatly appreciated (And increase your karma in the eyes of the fishing gods!)

My fate is in your hands, gentleman.

Thanks

There are a lot of spots to throw in a line, I would suggest to go to your tackle store and buy a Fraser river map. I picked one up two weeks ago and itis great. It shows you the location of all of the fishing spots from the mouth to hope.

Shore acces bars that I can think of would be Laidlaw, Gill, Scale Bar. For a list of spots by city try out www.sharphooks.com. they have listings of all of the major bars on the fraser.

Good luck fighting your way through the crowds.

Hey Wookie....I was up @ Laidlaw by 6 Am and there must have been 50 guys up and down the river ( that is alot!! )....Luckily I had my 2 fish by about 8  and ventured out to check a few other bars for the weekend....If you havn't fished the Fraser in a while I would strongly sujest a little quiter spot....I checked out Herrling Island and that is a very long bar with quite a bit of breathing space....lots of Sockeye being cought there as well....FYI...Take Hwy 1 past Chilliwack ( about 15-20 mins ) and take the Herrling Island exit....There is a service road which runs on the South/East side of the hwy 1....take it to dirt....keep going and park by the other cars....WAIT TILL YOU SEE SOMEONE ELSE CROSS THE BACK CHANNEL :? and follow them to the river....best bar I can think of for a guy that may need a little elbow space....Good luck and may the carma gods look down on me for a big Springer tommorrow... :D :D TL P.S. Is Wookie Japanese??

In certain parts, yes the back channel can be deep. I personally will not wade the Fraser, but then again I have a boat

As mentioned by Hawgfisher, if you are unfamiliar with the area let someone else cross first! We don't need to lose anyone to the river this weekend!

You could always stand on the rivers edge with your thumb out and a BCFR flag!! I'm sure one of us would pick you up and take you to a Bar!

Cheers
