Took my 11 year old son out of school today at lunch. He had an apparent appointment... ;D. We were headed to allouette lake to run the new boat and fish for a few hours. I noted two big odd shaped big trucks go by as we were driving down the main road to the boat launch turn off. Both had a fish logo on the back. I figured they were taking fish to some local small lakes from what I thought was a hatchery or trout farm on the far side of the lake. Wrong....
We drive down the hill to the boat launch and the water all around the launch and surrounding area is just alive with surfacing fish. It was quite bizarre. It turn out they had just stocked the lake from the launch. We didn't stay to fish the freshly dumped fish and instead gave the new boat a run to the other end of the lake. We fished for an hour without a sign of anything alive under the water. We ran the boat back to the other end of the lake and started fishing 30 ft off the boat launch. (Dads apparently a little slow to figure things out) We immediately saw schools of fish swimming after our small spinners. The next 3 hours were spend catching and releasing 8 to 13 inchers. Double headers, a fish every two casts, and plenty of action for the whole time. Sight fishing along the shore line...We both had such a memorable time and couldn't believe our luck. Things got slower as the afternoon progressed, but I know one 11 year old who will remember this day for a very long time.\
