Well they did stock the lake.
My neighbour grabbed his inflatable and we launched around noon.
Trolling was the order of the day so I tried a very cool minnow lure I just bought.
No luck with it, so I switched to a tiny Blue fox.
Then my buddy has a fish on, he was using his trusted Hildebrandt shaver.

Nice little rainbow trout, pan fryable.
Catch & release was the order of the day, so off it went.

I instantaniously switch to a shaver as well, and of course my budddy hits 2 more fish.

Well I finally hook one and then I think oops, nothing there but sure enough the line snuggs up again.
Another fine little fish.
Buddy catches one, then a double header.
Which was wierd because we just had a chat about never having a double header!
Sadly I am totally outfished, and getting it rubbed right in, GRRR!

Then while trolling the shallows past the private property on the cliff so to speak.
Another fish on but not very much fight or rod action, when reeling it in my neghbour tells me sadly " I think it is a Squaw fish ".
Now most of the fish we had caught were 8-9 inches some leaner & longer some fatter & stubby.
This fish was not putting up much fight at all but it was huge for our little lake.
Turned out to be a wild Cutthroat trout maybe 14 inches and a good pound and a half!

I have caught Cutties in the lake before but this one was mud stained underneath and not very chrome at all!
great big spots on it too.

So not only did I get outnumbered but outsized as well, I will never hear the end of this!

P.S. not bad for three hours fishin eh!

There's 2 kinds of cuttys around here, one that's shinier with lots of little spots (sea run I think), and one thats a little darker with bigger spots.
i have frends that have property at that lake. one time i cast a single hook with a worm and bobber while having beers and noticed bobber was gone.well to make a long story short turn out that i hooked a nice cutty myself right off the beatch cooked him up on the spot good eats
Nice to see some trout come out of that lake. Uncle binky keep hittin, that area just off the cliff. and towards the gator lookin log.If I've got friends that want to troll I just stick along that side. Hit's almost 40ft in a couple of spots.

Good to hear about your day on the lake. I still gotta get a line into there one of these days!!
We were out that way yesterday but had to head home due to an emergency before we even got to fish at all... :x

Thanks for sharing bro!!!
Last year my son and I were up fishing some of the other lakes in the area and went by to visit my buddy living on the lake. As you enter over the bridge where the lake flows out there are always a pile of fish. This day must have been 50 traveling from the mouth out and back. No room to cast so just dropped the flies on the surface and watch them take. It was a hoot. I must sound ignorant, but I have never caught this type species. These fish have very dark tops and yellow bellies. they are very greasy to handle. What are they??
