Just curious when a lake generally turns over after ice off, am planning a trip to Tunkwa next weekend the 9th, ice seems to be about 1/4 off the lake as of today. I think i will probably hit it before it turns. Thoughts?
Hey man.. I think ice should be off by the 9th seeing that this week it has been warmin up here in kamloops and we are starting to get a little ground heat. If by then the ice is not off i would suggest trying the princeton area because ice is off and my freind jsut came back from there and he had lots of fish.
if the ice is staring to recede on Tunkwa it wont take long for it to be gone because that lake is windy almost always and nothing gets rid of ice like wind and heat  you will be ahead of turnover then though it normally takes 2-3 weeks after ice off i believe before the lake turns, unless it gets hot really fast.
As of right now, Tunkwa is still at least 80% covered in ice, Leighton most likely the same, Tunkwa is one good wind away from being ice free. This lake does turn over surprisingly fast.
