Lilloet river long weekend!

On monday I went to the lilloet river systems to target some dollies, rainbows and hopefully a spring! Made it to the lake by 8 am and within 5 casts was into a nice 3 lb dollie. Fished this area for a couple of hours and all together 4 dollies.I did see a large spring come up out of the water here and thought for sure we'd hook a spring but nothing doing.

Wen t down river a bit and cast around for awhile and the next spot and it produced nothing.I was fishing with a good buddy of mine and managed to meet up with some other relatives of mine.We were follwing them down river and on the next stop we managed to loose them, not on purpose,so we stopped and one of the known holding spots for springs and it produced one dollie and a few bites but no springs ! So down river more we go to try and find my relatives but after quite abit of driving we're convinced we've lost them.

So now we decided to hit a spot that looked like a really good holding spot for trout and we hit the jackpot of trout. After about an hour of fishing this area it produced at least 15 dollies and 2 rainbows. The biggest was about 4 lbs.It was alittle tough fishing as these fish were very light takers and we had to give them an extra second on the take down before setting the hook.

So after we fished this hole out I moved down river to the tailout of this run to see if there are any straggling fish here and after my second cast I see my float stop get pulled under a little so I wait a split second to set the hook and it gets pulled under a little more!SET THE HOOK! I got him.Oh this feels like a bigger trout.....After a second more it feels like areally big trout and I'm thinking its a 5lb rainbow and the fight gets stronger and I'm thinking Steelhead? When all of a sudden my rod bends over and the fight gets real heavy and it is them I realize that I've got a spring. It shoots down river then up and out to the rapids and I'm yelling to my friend" It's a spring" So he comes running down to help me land this beauty, It rurns out to be around 22lbs and an absolute chrome bullet. These fish never cease to amaze me that after a few months in fresh wat5er that they are still so chrome! Snapped a few pcs and back into the river she went!

All in all it was like over 20 dollies,2 rainbows,1 spring and one happy hotrod.

All I can say is "God I love this province"

How was the level and clarity HR, planning to boat up tommorrow and am concerned that it will out of shape.

BTW, what was your technique of choice for the bull trout?.
Just Hotrod livin' up to his name.......Good goin' pal.......sounds like a great day was celebrated on the water.
Looking forward to catching up with you soon......Ortho 8)
Bent rod!

The river condition was exellant. Came up about 5 ft from a couple of weeks ago and I was thiking that a jet boat would be superb right now! There was at least 3ft of visability. Pretty much clear with some hint of melt off. I'll be back there sooner rather than later.
