hey CK

if you want you can try fly fishing that little GREEN TIMBERS

my dad and i used to fish it alot at night time, usually the bite came on within the last 2 or 3 hrs before dark always seemed to do good with those bacl spratly's sometimes red ones and even green chronies worked too

let me know if your gonna try it. I might hit it with you show you the better places to throw that fly out :D

How is Buntzen Lake as of late?
I havent been able to go fishing for a loooong time due to work.
I have a few days off in the weeks ahead.
I have had a great time at Buntzen in the past but with all this hot
weather im not sure if its good.

Any info would help, thanks

ha ha i forgot about Buntzen

try trolling a black spratly on a dry line with about a 13' leader that seems to be a great way to get them

but with all this heat dont be surprised of you get oly one or two in a fwe hours

they tend to go VERY deep in the heat and that lake is 260' deep or more

WHAT ABOUT THAT POPULAR LAKE IN MISSION? WITH THE CAMPGROUND CAN'T THINK OF THE NAME BUT I REMEMBER YEARS AGO IT WAS PRETTY DARN GOOD, BUT NOW I'M NOT TO SURE OF? oops caps was on @%$# lol cant remember the name but i'm sure someone on here does?
Try Rolley Lake. We go there alot for camping, Fishing can be alright if you are useing the right Fly. No motors of any kind allowed on the lake though. The campground tends to be full on the weekends if you do not get there early enough.
I wonder if downriggers are allowed on Buntzen? Cuz I have some smaller cannon balls....that would solve your problem...wedding band w/cured shrimp down deep....hmmm!
If you try Rolley Lake, get there very early...I would try being there when the gate opens...cuz no joke, that place gets crazy busy! The best fishing is in the evening...or early morning. I like to use pink, orange or rainbow powerbait just off the bottom from shore there as well...but yeah keying in on the right fly can be tough.
Buntzen is still fishin' fine, early in the morning...trolling best...
Fished Buntzen on thurs. at around 5:00pm till close
Had a few nibbles on the fly line but no fish landed
Must say it was really nice out there and you would think
it was the perfect conditions with the water being so still,
but no fish to be seen.

I think that early morning till noon would be best.
About the comment Nice_One made about using downriggers at Buntzen...... Great idea!
I acually have the perfect set up for tryn just that. Im planning on going out there in a week or so...
let you all know how the downriggig goes.

Yeah I'd like to try the riggers there myself...I have to buy some used smaller dr's....and somehow mount them on the edge of my 9ft aluminum. I know the various scotty mounts can be a little on the expensive side. I'll probably have to make some sort of wood mount. HOOK: Allouette gear...Do you mean small, black-sparkle apex lures? Wedding band w/worm or spoons?
im not sure about the Allouette

but i have heard that some guys fish it just like they would in the chuck

sure made me wonder

cause there are some HUGE ass fish in the Allouette but you need to get way down to get them

i heard of a 50 or so lb'er come out just a couple years ago. that would have been awesome to see that one

Rolley was slow fishing on the weekend as it was pretty hot in the lake. Me and the wife stayed up there camping for the weekend and were treated to some excitement as there was black bear sniffing about all night. Ahhh nothing like messy campers to tempt the wildlife.
Buntzen is fishing OK...caught two kokanees on a Fordfender and wedding ring with worm after an hour and a half trolling-both around 11 inches...

Heh, I live right next to Green Timbers. So far every time I've been there in the last couple of weeks I don't see a soul there. Daytime, evening or night. A couple of years ago that was totally different of course and you'd see tons of guys with their rods there every day.
yes i have noticed that myself recently as well

i think last year when the lake bloomed way too much it choked off alot of the good fishing

and when they re stock it each year you get the "usual" gusy show up cause they know when it gets stocked and they take like 20 home everyday for a week

then there is amost nothing left. pisses me off

you can try your luck though some nights you cant beat them off of your hook

sometimes they are that hungry and even if not you can usually intice a couple wich something
