I have a good set up for springs/chum etc... (10.5 rod and abu garcia level wind) but am looking for a "lighter" combo for coho/steelies. I want to stay with a level wind at this time, not ready to move to a CP yet. Anyone have any suggestions.............I primarily fish the Vedder.

It mainly depends on how much you want to spend. You could get a Calcutta 250 TE with a Sage factory rod. Will cost you somewhere in the $800 range (or more) or you could go more affordable.

i used Berkeley Specialist 10.5 or 11 foot rods with my level winds they have good backbone (landed 60+ lb'rs on them) with a 6500 C3 great combo very sensitive tip also

I now fish a 3113 TFO pin rod and its alot better for the smaller flows however can be a little too light with big springs in strong current but i make due ;D

tight lines

For coho and steelhead I would say go with any quality rod that has at 10-20 lb rating. Light and strong. That's the ticket for me. A few yars back I got a 10'6" Quantum "Cold water" Series with the big eyes for less freeze up and for the same price as the Convergance I would say it's twice the rod. It's got good flex and sensativity and still use it from time to time over my 2106 cause it's alot of fun!
