Hiked up furry creek to watch spawning springs and to my surprise i see 7 pinks! They seemed alot smaller and more colorfull than usual pinks.Are they lost? or a small not well known run?

Will try take a pic on saturday.

Salmon have an extremely well sense of direction they will go up the same river as their parebts and usually try to spawn in the same spot as theur parents! I highly doubt they are lost this was either a case of misidentification or maybe a very small run like you mentioned

How do you think so many streams and rivers were populated with them?

Salmonoids have been evolving for over a million years.
From what is now Mexico all the way around to Japan

They didn't magically appear.

It took eons to have what we are now disrupting (actually since the European invasion which thought it could control the natural order of things)
I hope they are lost and end up populating a stream for the future.

Just like people; there are things that stray from the course and perhaps this is another part of natures course.

We might not be around in an hundred, or a thousand years to see it but perhaps it's a start.
