The 2009 edition of the "Meet the members stillwater weekend" will be June 4-7 at Roche Lake. The lake offers a wide assortment of camping/fishing opportunities as well as easy access from everywhere. It has a good history of success at that time of the year, and should be ice free and turned over by early June, giving us some good opportunities....It has some BIG fish!!.......This fall a couple of fish over 10lbs. were caught so there are some lunkers in there.

There are 7 smaller lakes within 4 miles of Roche, and some have rainbows, and others have some very large Brook trout. There are camping facilities (forestry sites at most of them) They are 4x4 accessible. Roche can be accessed by regular vehicle,(with care) and I know some members will go early to secure some good camp areas. Even if we are not at the same spot, we can always have a social gathering in the evening or on the lake.

Mark your calendars NOW and request your time off for maybe an extra day for the weekend. Officially, we will be there for the three days, and signage will be put up to guide you to the BCFR camp....I will be arranging some sponsorship in the form of food/drink for one of the evenings.Hamburgers/hot dogs etc.) Perhaps some of you could do the same?

THIS WILL NOT BE A DERBY!! This will be a family gathering. Bring along anyone who wants to get away for the weekend.........I will update in the New Year with a list of all interested members and put together a schedule of events, etc. for the weekend..I am hoping to have a casting clinic as well as a tying clinic as part of the weekend as well as some trolling advice for the the gear guys & gals..........Ortho 8)

Wife and I are good to go. And will be camping.

Have we decided which of the campgrounds we are aiming for?

Me and the fam damily are there. I can bring my boat which has room for two more BCFR members and a pontoon if somebody needs to get out on the water. I'll be booking a spot in the provincial park. Thanks for getting this going.

Wendy and I will b e there (a day or 2 early). We'll have 2 pontoons and possibly my 11' aluminum. I don't know the campgrounds, so we'll wait and see what it looks like for everyone else before deciding.

We need Rib and RC to come, and that would make all the mods and admins for this site attending an event. I think that would be great!

Rick: I don't think you'll need to bring your sled up. Dennis will have his Spratley, and Sheldon will have one by then. Harry has a 1236 Lund, and I'll have a boat up there also...I think there's plenty of room for you. :)

I should be able to make the trip that weekend. I'll see if the wife wants to come! I'll also drag along the canoe.

You can count my Prince George clan in, my wife and three kids. Looking forward to fishing some new water, and meeting all the BCFR members that show up.

Rick Just bring that monster Raft of yours, we can tow it behind my putt-putt :drunk:

I talked to the wife about this one but it is a no go fir us. My kids get out of school and three of them have B-days on the 8th and 11th. It's just too crazy of a time for us to make an attemp at this one. But sounds like alot of fun.

Ortho: Great to hear that this event has taken the next step! I guess it's good to get plans going early to maximize the potential for greatness! Great ideas (tying demo, casting clinic...awesome!) I don't play Crib...but I do love single malt scotch and will definitely bring some of that!

I'll most likely be heading up with my Dad and my fishing buddy (possible future BCFR members ;D)...perhaps my Mother will be interested in this trip as well.

AWESOME!

Re: "Meet the Members of BCFR at Roche Lake

Booked a chalet at the resort this morning, was really torn between bringing my travel trailer and staying at the provincial site or pulling my boat down. Elected for the boat a little more room for the family than my car-topper. Its gonna be a blast, sounds like you have some great plans for the weekend Ortho, can't wait.
