The 2009 edition of the "Meet the members stillwater weekend" will be June 4-7 at Roche Lake. The lake offers a wide assortment of camping/fishing opportunities as well as easy access from everywhere. It has a good history of success at that time of the year, and should be ice free and turned over by early June, giving us some good opportunities....It has some BIG fish!!.......This fall a couple of fish over 10lbs. were caught so there are some lunkers in there.
There are 7 smaller lakes within 4 miles of Roche, and some have rainbows, and others have some very large Brook trout. There are camping facilities (forestry sites at most of them) They are 4x4 accessible. Roche can be accessed by regular vehicle,(with care) and I know some members will go early to secure some good camp areas. Even if we are not at the same spot, we can always have a social gathering in the evening or on the lake.
Mark your calendars NOW and request your time off for maybe an extra day for the weekend. Officially, we will be there for the three days, and signage will be put up to guide you to the BCFR camp....I will be arranging some sponsorship in the form of food/drink for one of the evenings.Hamburgers/hot dogs etc.) Perhaps some of you could do the same?
THIS WILL NOT BE A DERBY!! This will be a family gathering. Bring along anyone who wants to get away for the weekend.........I will update in the New Year with a list of all interested members and put together a schedule of events, etc. for the weekend..I am hoping to have a casting clinic as well as a tying clinic as part of the weekend as well as some trolling advice for the the gear guys & gals..........Ortho 8)
