Does anyone know any interior lakes that fish well for a beginner on the flyrod. My kids are getting a little old and was hoping to take them out to the Merrit/Kamloops area. It's a tough go for me teaching them when I will be a beginner myself.

Hey Sean, I go to Nicola alot and the fishing is good there.There are lots of lake around that area. Go to the local sporting shop they are very helpful.

if you go a bit further, Kamloops way, try for really fast fishing (smaller fish) Saul Lake. O0.

Walloper,Paradis, Pennask and Surrey all have lots of small quick action fish. There are many others those are the three that jumped into my head fastest.

How deep we talkin hook. Deeper then you could slow a troll a full sinking line?

I have fished there every year for the past 6 or so and have just come out with some average size ones maybe hook into a bigger one this year!

i would say a big fish in there would be no more than 2lbs, great kid fishery as there are alot in the 10-12inch range willing to hit anything.

I have not been up there this year yet but in the past couple of years anytime after may is good to go. The south end of the lake is good and any fly with black in it worked for me. good luck!!

hmm okay then maybe im thinking of another lake i read about that sounds exactly the same isnt this lake deep?? the thing i read was about fishing chronies deep with a full sink line hanging straight down, and bringing it up slowly and having the fish hammer it and even breaking the fly off alot of the time (authors words) and he was fishing 30-40 down he mentioned in the article. i read this over a year or two ago but i was sure of the lake name but possibly not :beerchug:
