I fished Mike Lake in Golden Ears last night from about 6 pm until dark. There were a lot of folks out, but it was sloooowwww fishing. I got skunked, with only about 3 nibbles. The other guys with me caught a couple of fish between them. The fish were 13 and 14 inches. The other people on the lake occasionally landed fish, but I think only two others.
I've always wondered about some of the other lakes in the Golden Ears... anyone fish them? I know they're not stocked like Mike but there should be fish??
I'm not sure about Mirror (tiny lake near Mike), but all of those other lakes to the northwest of Mike are in the UBC research forest and that area is closed to the public. I've often wondered about that area too since there are so many lakes, but I can't see them ever being open.
Any recent news about Mike Lake? I'm thinking of heading up there this weekend, it'll be my second time fly fishing! Any recommendations on which flies to use?
