Birdman...I would definitely get a professional to do it...these reels are built such that it allows it's different components to work in tandem with a high level of precision. The drum, casing etc have all been machined to a very fine level that the human eye cannot easily distinguish, and if you start sanding it will likely make things worse...wait till steelhead season is done and then take it into someone who can assess what can be done to improve the performance.
