I guess with all the negative post on here maybe I thought I would share my first fishing story with you. Maybe you would like to post yours. I was 5yrs old on my father took me down a small creek in south surrey I could not even quess the name of it was and to tell you the truth I could not what we were using, but if you are willing to read on by all means please do so. I do remember we were float fishing in a small stream (or ditch) with the famous red and white floats when I had my first bite and wham I could not discribe what was happening but all I could hear was reel in, reel and sure enough I had my first rainbow trout about 5 in long. My father told me we have to let this one go son, but with all the begging and screaming he let me keep it. I could not tell you of the regulations at this time in the 70's but it was my first fish and at that age I was very excited. Upon bringing my prize home everyone was excited to here about my big catch. The poor thing was not even gutted and my mother had put in fridge for safe keeping untill my excitment calmed down. In the middle of the night I got up and sneeked down stairs to get my fish and play with it in my bedroom. Well some time into the morning the novelty worn off and sure enough on that hot summer day my mother found a hot smelly half rotten trout under my pillow need I say more.

you know, the other day when my ten year old caught his pikeminnow, the excitement in his voice, the look on his face... I don't know about you, but it's the feeling you get, when you know that you've a fish on.. it does it for me every time.

I take great joy in watching my son catch fish (he is 13 next month), whether it is pikeminnows, salmon or sturgeon, the sheer joy on his face is unbelievable.... the best part is he has been fishing since he was 4 and he still wants to go out every weekend and wants to stay well into the twilight....

I would like to tell you that I remember the fight of my first fish in detain, I do not. However, I have some recollection of it, and we have a picture saved of a 4-5 year old boy with no shoes on and a straw hat standing on a big rock over looking the creek near our ranch with a 4ft cane pole and a cork and line with a moster on the end of the line( we call them sun pearch and it was at least 4 inches long). OK, my first fish. Salt.

I was too young too remember my first fish ,but I'm pretty sure it would have been a coho while mooching cutplugs in the salt. grt. gramps fished only single action reels so every fish fought like hell too me at 4 or 5 or whatever I was.The first fish I truly remember ,the first rainbow I got on a flyrod .I hadn't fished for years probably almost 10,since both my great and grandfather passed .but I loved fishing with those two and I'd always thought too myself why would I want too catch a dinker trout after hundreds of salmon??THEN my dad takes me too salmon lake with a flyrod he'd just bought me for my birthday we trolled around and got nothing .next morning I go out with a couple of my cousins buddies ,leech dangling out the back WHAM!!! zzzzzzzzzzzzzz FISH ON!!!cartwheeling ,jumping, puling line   :happy:HEY this rod looks a lot like great grampas only scaled down too the fish   :happy:I've been fishing CRAZY ever since ....probably a 100 days or more a year since ,that was ten years ago.GOGETEM
