Well I am slowly adding to my collection  LOL I had slowed down for a bit, but with my find a few months ago of a mint Milner. I was on the hunt for another BC made reel and was able to track one down.

I herd about them many many moons ago a Macdonald made on Vancouver Island by the Late Norm Macdonald.

Now does anyone out there know as to the numbers of reels made by the Late Norm Macdonald?

How much would you let it go for?

Knuckles, I sold mine earlier this year identical to Cap-Slayers for $800. Just a few months ago I bought another NIB, never had line on. This one is in the safety deposit box and you don't want to know what I paid. I have been told by a couple of collectors in England prices should be in the $2K - $3K in a few years. Will have to wait and see what happens ;D

fisherforever,

That sounds like my mint Jewel that has never seen line and is still in the box it was sold in, the price back in the day of $26.00. I think it was from Harkley and Haywood the old store in Downtown Vancouver. Mine also is in a safety deposit box :peace:

I have spun it acouple of times and OMG what a difference to my Hardy's, the thing would not stop spinning.

Would I sell it, NOPE..... It is like a firearm aka Gun once you buy a gun you never sell it as down the road you kick yourself for doing so!!!

Does anyone know if there was different size Pins that Norm made or where they all one size?

I had the pleasure of knowing Norm and being in the work room in his basement - I watched him take a solid block of aluminum and work his magic

He would spin his CP and count to 10 and then I would spin my Silex and his reel would still be spinning long after my Silex and stopped

He tuned up my Silex but it would still never keep going as long as his reels

an amazingly nice man who would share his knowledge easily - I even took a short turn on the lathe a couple of times.

My memory fails me but I think they were a couple of hundred bucks way back then to buy - I could not afford one

Hook,

It is easy to get well Hooked on $$ to when you really get into pin'ing.

As once you use a reel that hasn't been pumped out in huge numbers as the detail and workmanship is bar none!

I had to spin the reel again lastnight, this is my first in my collection that is a bearing reel!

This weekend to when I get time I will try and snap a couple of shots of my collection!!!!

Thought you already had one of them. There was a Mcdonald awhile ago on the buy and sell going for $750. There's also a few Hardy's on there now too.
