I need to buy a bar rodfor the "Fish out" this weekend on the Fraser, and I can't decide what to get, or where to get it (CDN Tire?)

I'm on a budget, like under $100 is ideal, but if its worth it, I can spend more

I also don't know whether to get one that suits my level wind, or my big spinning reel

Any suggestions will improve your standing with the almighty fish gods, may the bless you with solid hook sets for years to come!!

uuhhhh, thanks

Hey Wook... ;D It'll be good to see ya again...! I borrowed a med/heavy trophy from a friend for the fishout, my understanding is anything med/heavy in 10.5 ft or longer will do the trick. I think the trophy's go for a little more than 100$ though...

Fred's lists a Trophy XL Med/Hev 10'6" for $115. Other shops may be cheaper. I would definitely suggest to go with a baitcaster rod, I haven't touched a spinning reel in ages (unless I'm on the lake). My :2cents:

Army and Navy is always a good place to look while on budget. You can get a trphy XL for 120.00, or there is the Quantam Coldwater that goes for around 80-90$ I think. IF you go for the coldwater, be careful to get the right one, there are so many sizes available. Look for the 20-30lb one i believe. Hope this helps.
