Need to catch something

I have a friend visiting for the long weekend and he want's to catch some fish. I've been out three time and have only caught dogs. Should I go to the river or give the straight a shot. Are the pinks around in good numbers? What would you recommened for the best chance of catching some salmon.

pinks should be around the LM any time now........... tonnes off sooke
