I was up on the Cowichan last week and the fishing was poor. After fishing a number of spots in the Mid-river area, I finally connected with a fish in the Stoltz Pool area. It didn't put up a great fight considering that it was a bright looking fish. When I got it to hand, It was showing a series of net marks. Has anyone else experienced the same situation lately? Possibly that is why the fishing has completely dropped off.

I have,cought one last weak small doe around 7 pounds had lots of net marks,I asked my self the same question.

Most of the time what anglers think are net marks are marks/loss of scales from the anglers line rubbing on the fish as it twists/turns/ runs.This causes a number of parallel lines running from dorsal to belly at an angle, between the tail and gill plate.

My fish had the exact marks as discrepted by spoonman,THX I guess that would answer my question now. :thumbup:

I see alot more of the classic seat bite escape scars, they look like a sort of u shape.
