John Grain, a teacher and colleague of mine from the school district in Kelowna has published a new book called Flylines and Fishtales: The Story of Glimpse Lake Lodge. It is published by Caitlin Press (www.caitlin-press.com) out of Madeira Park, BC, publishers of other fine BC related fiction and non fiction.
He was at Trout Water Supplies in Kelowna on Saturday selling and signing advanced copies. I read the book over the weekend and I have to say I found it a most outstanding read! For any avid outdoorsmen who has spent time on any Interior Plateau lake, this book will make you laugh, cry, and relive your own experiences. The best thing about it is my wife, who is not an angler per se, enjoyed it immensley, because it is not a "how to" book on fishing. It "weaves a stirring and remarkable journey of a young family who abandoned the urban frenzy and embraced the tranquility and serenity of a rural lifestyle." Make sure you read this book.
I can't wait for May to get back to the high country heat and the incredible fishing and outdoors of the Interior!
I'm sure I could do some digging around to find this book. However off hand do you if it will be carried in the shops of the LML? Sounds like a great read, and right up my alley.
I'm sure it will be picked up by most book stores or you can contact Caitlin Press. I think it's official date available to the public is January 2008 at least that is the date on the inside cover.
