As Bergler mentioned, this site will be accessible only to members above the 50 post count.
This is not designed so as to exclude people from a section, but more to encourage people to include themselves in the forum as a whole. We hope this will increase the amount of positive contributions and loyal members to the site, while also increasing participation without just increasing the number of redundant posts.
Thus we encourage posting not just to get post counts up, but to increase quality participation. We will go through and delete posts if we feel someone is posting the typical "nice post dude!", just so they can reach member status... :wallbash: LOL!!! ;D
Hopefully you guys like the idea, and we appreciate your thoughts on it, and look forward to all of your future contributions, especially if they are as great the ones you have shown to date!!!

Hey just a little blip to Berg and Rib, Great job on the up keep of the site, I think this will only add another dimension to the forum. BTW whoever added the new icons, SHWEET, you gotta love em'

You want to hear our thoughts on what?? the site, management, ideas for future, member participation stuff?....Are you expecting to hear critique from the members from a site that doesn't cost them a dime?.....Could you guys elaborate a bit.?...I realize what you are getting at, but I think your idea might be misconstrued if not clarified a bit.........Ortho 8)

I know we have had our differences in the past and our online relationship
hasn't been the same since the, fishing derby post! I would like this forum to be even better than it is and these kind of post help us to try and achieve that, participation from the members!!!
Are you saying we would get more site participation/critique if I charged people $40 per year! The fact that it is free I would think people would be more willing to talk, maybe I am wrong! This website was never created to make money, more to bring awareness to the resources so everyone can enjoy it, as I do. I will not be adding fees. I put a donation link up that was used by two members, Bill and srethy, thanks. Clearly people are not willing to contribute financially, which I don't have a problem with and because it is free, I would hope everyone can contribute by posting. If that doesn't work then perhaps I should just shut her down! There is a lot of members on this forum with zero posts (1805) members with one post (789). These members are non contributing members how do we get them to contribute?fishortho said:

Hey Rick, I am suggesting you might add a little bit more guidance and clarification to the members as to what this new forum is for...Lets say, I am a relatively new member and I have just passed the 50 post platform....Now I can input on the new members forum?..What will the moderators/members of the site be expecting to see and hear? It seems to be pretty clear with the posting guidelines recently put forth. The buy and sell section is a no brainer and the area reports are self explanatory, but how will this forum differ from "chit chat"?(other than the post #)
If you ask for input, I think you need a little more direction for the membership that you are targeting.I am sure a lot of those no posters and one posters got their info and departed. Are you trying to get this group more involved, and have them return more frequently?
My comments on expecting critique of the site from members who pay nothing for many hours of entertainment/enjoyment is strictly to bring attention to the fact that all the work and time you put into your site to keep it up and running is only fully understood by those who frequent the site.
I don't think a new member really understands this issue until he/she has been around awhile, and made a few inquiries and spoken with other members.
I am trying to explore a few things that will help make the site better for all.
Would this be a good forum to send out a blanket pm to all those over 50 posts and ask them their opinions on things you have in mind? I would say, yes
As I said, the product is a good one, and all the parts seem to be there, but the directions to the members seem to be a bit hard to read at present.

Well if you want to get those 0-1 people to post rick....DELETE THEM! bottom line....I think we'd all be fine with that as its pretty much just the same group posting on here....pretty much just privatized...my 2 cents....people who have no posts should not be allowed to even look at the cool stuff or the awsome secrets let go....my :2cents:

I think what we have in mind for this section is definitely a spot for all the cool stuff, as mike put it, kind of a carrot for those who start to contribute rather than just lurk around...
We imagine that in this section items that we would normally not post in the main forum could be put on here, video's, etc... Only a small percentage of people have the post count to gain access, so it would be somewhat more private.

I appreciate this forum Rick and thanks to you and Rib we have a lot of good info at our fingertips here :beerchug:.
I like the idea, just not 100% clear of the content as Ortho was stating. Will we segment out any of the stuff that would usually go into one of the other forums like detailed reports or conditions?
I think its a great idea though, something to work towards for newbies like myself :thumbup:

Well....I think "hate" is a strong word for anything Mikey D., but yes it'll be a place for all the nitty gritty... eace:
Ultimately Bergler decides what will be in this section, but our input is needed too so, besides video's what else do you guys want to see in here?
eace:I think this isn't designed to be a high volume section, thread topic wise...and we'll figure out over time what goes in here and what doesn't...that's why we're having this discussion. This is designed to be an open forum without pm's and out of the site of the "general public" : All it
does,IMO, or purpose is to encourage the masses to particapate a little more to be inclueded. There
must be an allure to entice the bite maybe this is enough whose to say but this sounds intresting and
the site could use some excitement. Not that I'm bored just short attention span.....

I think that this is a good idea. Could work if you make this part of the forum look attractive enough. Mind you, I am a bit of a post whore and it doesn't take that much to get me to talk sometimes!! But I like it an hope that this gets a bit more member participation!! :cheers:

Exactly! :cheers: This would be a place for contributing members to talk and share to contributing members, what do you think! Everything will stay the same as far as reports and the rest of the site goes! If there is something you wanted to share with the contributing members and not the free loaders, this is the place post!ribwart said:

I also think that perhaps we could have a regular report section like we do, but also a "hot tip" report section. Maybe some of us could be a bit more forgiving on sections of rivers, or locations of some spots.... don't know about that one though... might be a tough sell. I am not talking smaller systems though. To me those should really stay off the forum all together. Also the pics could be good, maybe instead of spelling it out location wise, this could be a spot for un cropped pics. If someone can find the spot, in the pic, all the power to them. There has been a ton of cropped and distorted backgrounds in pics these days. I have been guilty of this as well. But who knows, I could be persuaded. Just a thought mind you, I could be way off base. I guess that could be left up to the person posting the pics.
Also should perhaps be some guide lines on what is a post. Not just 50 wasted posts so people can access this section. :2cents:
