Hi I am wondering if I can get some quick tips on how to steelhead fish. I have had no luck before. I have a zebco fishing combo that is approximately 8'6" rated heavy action. Is this good for steelhead? In past I use wool ties under a foam float but have only caught spring and chum but no steelhead. As i ask in other thread would fishout be a good place to get advice? Thanks

Yes you can use the same set up with a float and wool ties for steelhead... you can also use a pink worm and other types of artificial bait as well as roe under your float. My advice to you as a person in a similar situation... this was my first year for steelhead and i was self taught and also had alot of fun. READ everything on it... books, internet articles ect. West Coast Steelheader is a great little book. The other piece of advice is when you fish MOVE.... fish a run with maybe 2 diff presentations then move on to another run... you will have success this way... Steelhead hold in walking pace water sometimes in 2 or 3 feet deep water depending on clarity ect... trust me in my first season Ive had alot of fun but also went through the felt soles of my boots!!! You have to work for them....
