New to the forum and fly fishing; I was invited to join a few friends on a fly fishing trip in may and enjoyed it very much. One guy is getting me set up with some gear but I was wondering about what flys to get. I was looking at Michael & Young Fly shop and they had some package deals of about 40 or so standard flys to get you started. Good deal or not? I guess I don't have much choice. Mostly lake fishing but creeks and rivers sound good to me, Takes me back about 45 years.. Thanks BCKID

Just tell the guys at M&Y where you will primarily be flyfishing, and I'm sure that those fly "kits" can be custom tailored to suit your needs. I bet you'll soon want to start tying though as buying flies can get very expensive...not to mention the inconvenience of having to stop by a flyshop when you head out or have run out of flies. Fly tying is easy...so don't hesitate too long. Good luck.
