Fished the Skagit River with a buddy yesterday. I haven't seen the river that low in years. It was a beautiful sunshiny day, but the temperature only got up to about 6 degrees. There were tons of mayflies hatching and drifting. Only occasionally did we see a fish rise. Caught 4 nice rainbows with very striking colours on white winged flies (Royal Coachman, and a white-winged mayfly that I made up). We got to the river at 2:30 PM and fished until 6:00 PM and may have been the only ones on the river. Even though the fishing was slow, it was well worth getting out there.
