The saltwater salmon season is officially underway! Jason landed 6 chinook salmon at Thrasher Rock on Sunday and Pacific Angler head guide Eddie got 4 chinook salmon Tuesday morning locally. The saltwater salmon fishing is simply on fire!
Fishing has been picking up steadily the last 2 weeks and our customers have been getting chinook salmon in the 10-20lb range and limits of fresh Dungeness crab. We were out on the weekend over at Thrasher Rock and had excellent fishing. We hooked over half a dozen chinook, with the largest topping the scales at just under 20lbs!
These large schools of aggressive chinook salmon will be in our area until the end of June. We are catching fish in two areas, from the S end of Bowen to the QA marker, and over at Thrasher Rock off Gabriola Island. We can reach the fish at the QA marker in about 15 minutes from our dock and this is a great option for those looking for a 5 hour charter. Some of our best days have been at Thrasher Rock which is about a 45 minute run from our dock. If the weather is right we highly recommend booking a 10 hour charter and running over to Thrasher. Fishing at Thrasher rock in late May and all of June is some of the hottest and most consistent fishing of the entire season! We can also arrange a two day mini vacation for you where we overnight in Silva Bay which is right at the door step of the excellent fishing around Gabriola Island.
