Well ..... I ... would .... like ... to ... tell ... you ... how ... the ... fishing ... was ... this ... weekend ... but ... you ... probably ... figured ... it ... out ... already. SLOW.
If you enjoy light tackle pink fishing, you would have fun at Duval Pt. Friday we almost were blown off the water but hid at Duval. Lots of humpies and one small spring. Saturday was flat calm. Limit of chicken at Pine Island but took all day. Sunday was also flat calm. Drowned anchovies at Edmund Rock for hours that produced one spring that spat the hook at the boat. Only saw one other boat with the net out. Other boats rumored to do well at Rivers Inlet but cannot confirm. Besides, thats one hell of a run.
Hopefully nest time is more productive.

Sorry to hear you did not do that well. Was there lots of boats around Duval? Edmund Rock?

Fished Hardy last wed, lost two springs but had a great day with the bottom fish. Biggest hali was 97 lbs, the other three in the 20-25 lbs, along with some yellow eye and ling.

On Saturday, we went back to Hardy with the wife (as Port McNeill still sucks) and boated three springs between 21 and 26 lbs, lost 5 more (the wife lost three  :p, one broke off and one spit the hook after being on for about 30 seconds), we also caught 2 hali's, 30 and 35 lbs, a couple of nice yellow eye and a 20 lbs ling. It was great day on the water, with sun and flat conditions. You probably ran by us if you fished Pine Island.

Went back out again yesterday, three springs between 20 and 28 lbs, and a bunch of cod, no hali's this time and crappy weather

The biggest spring

There is some good fishing, but you just have to fish some different places. These fish were caught with no other boats around, in places that most people run by when going to another spot.

Give me a PM and I can maybe steer you in the right direction.

Cheers

That is a mighty fine looking table. Saturday, we went out with little regard for who was at Duval. We went straight out to a bank (name slips my mind) with three other boats and lots of porpoises. Not much activity. Cruised up the channel to Pine from there. Saw a handfull of boats in the area but noone where we were. Sunday, Duval had a dozen or so boats when we went out in the morning and half that on the way back in. Edmund had two other boats that stayed as long as we did (3-4hrs) with very little activity. We were in a 18.5 foot harbercraft with a green top. A little small for the area but when your first mate, you can't complain.

tight lines,
