QUICK QUESTION ON THE VEDDER

750 Views 9 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  Dawg
Hey now guys/gals
I saw guys in boats on the river just at the train bridge last weekend and was thinking of doing the same this saturday.

My question is: are boats with motors allowed on the vedder?
I mentioned to my friend who fishes it alot and he thought boats were not allowed.

Thanks

last year a jet boat was at peach road and when the water was high i saw a jet boat up behind on the way store, there is no boating restrictions on the vedder

I think last year on the vedder i think it was there was also a jet boat accident
I was up to almost Tamahi in a brand new Thunderjet during June high water..Glad it wasn't my jetboat....
Never hit bottom , but did get the pucker factor going a few times...Had a very good operator at the wheel..
The regs will tell you if you are allowed power boats on the not so obvious streams. Ie. Alouette River - no power boats on mainstream etc..
thats not right  last time i was on the vedder i seen guys in there jets boats around ford road area and that was the last time i fished it that was 96

There was an accident at Peach Rd last year when a kid coming downriver failed to navigate the turn. There was some good injuries like a busted leg and a head wound that resulted in the operator knocking himself out. The boat also took some heavy damage as well.

If your going to Jet boat the Vedder, you need a jet boats with alot of power to get through someof the stuff thats there also, someone with alot of boating experience as well, definatley not for the beginner, I honestly think it would be fun to go out there but another side of me says that there should be no boating allowed on the Vedder, due to the fact that there is alot of people swimming here and there, river rafting people kyakers and lots of fisherman around, and some spots on the way to tamahi are pretty tight areas for boating
