is it within the regs to use mulitple hooks (i.e. 2) in the river systems. a guy showed me a good rigging for bugs using 2 #4 hooks (similar to that of a herring set-up). is it a legal steel set-up?

You don't need 2 hooks. Steel take bugs so hard if you get a hit your gonna connect. I'm pretty sure its illegal to use 2 hooks but don't quote me on this. There is alot of confusion with this issue

Single, barbless on all rivers in BC. Articulated flies have two shanks but only one hook.

there is NO confusion on this issue. two hooks in a stream is illegal. as well, i've been fishing bugs for over 20 years and the takes are, more often than not, very tentative. i have watched steelhead chewing on a bug for 50' before finally jumping on. most guys i've seen that do not know how to fish bugs, set the hook WAY too early.

i agree dinsdale,the takes when fishing bugs are usually very light and i find it is usually a good idea to delay the hookset on the fish just a little longer to give the fish time to fully envelop the bugs,this is due to the steelheads habit of pinning the bugs on the bottom before eating them.

all the ones I got last year smashed it and I don't think I ever missed a set at all last year? I also fish small hooks with them so that could be a reason

i fish bugs alot aswell, when the float goes down i set the hook, u can usually feel the fish before the float dives, so thats my delay
