Hi all, I'm at a quandary. Does one go try to outsmart a fish on Roche or PeterHope Lake? I am going June19-26. Any reports would help me ease my troubled mind and allow me to sleep at night. Thanks. Kernaltrautman  :?:

Hhmm...I haven't fished Peter Hope this year, but I was up at Roche earlier this year. Roche has been stocked with triploids the past few years, and those fish have grown BIG. Only issue is the popularity of the lake...lots of pressure on those big boys. I think that the chances of hooking into a larger fish (bigger than 4lbs) is much better at Roche...and I do like the campsites there better also. Peter Hope hasn't been the same kind of quality fishery for years now.

Thanks Stone. A friend of mine who is a legend in his own mind when it comes to fishing, suggested i give Roche a try. He was there late may to early June and did well. Plus Mr. "Fishon" gave me a great suggestion for the return trip back to Winfield. Roche/Salmon/Jimmy/Wood/Pinaus. Of course i would have to take another week off work to fit all that fishing in.. but im willing to take one(or 5) for the team.
Gee Kernaltruatman ..... I thought I gave you that idea???? <lol>

Really? Any pics? Fish in Peterhope are hot fish...and a 4 lbr would be a screamer.
WOW :!: :!:

I fished Peterhope tons when I lived in Kamloops for 5 years ...... twas my home away from home. During that time I did manage to hook into some 3 or 4 pounders ........ but a 12 pounder. Someone must be feeding them fish hormones since I was there last .......... gotta see this ............. please post a pic.

I've never caught anything out of Peterhope that was even close to double digits either...although I've heard of stories before the lake got really popular.

Sorry GoFish, yes it was your idea.. Gawd ive got to stop taking all that cough syrup and rum at the same time
I'm amazed by how many people "catch" fish over 10 pounds yet didn't weigh them, measure them, or take pictures.
I don't even try to estimate weight without a measuring tape and I've seen plenty.
People really don't have a clue.
LOL ....... Yes that may be true big-hitter44 .... with us guys there are two things we exagerate about ...... the size of our fish and the size of our ..... nah I better not go there.

I agree with your comments Stone ...... that was years ago and quite possible then ........ but I'm sure not gonna say it can't be ......... it is possible ........ slim chance .... but possible.

Hey Oswald:

I'm more envious of your dad than anything else. :)
peterhope lake

hey stone the fishing in peterhope has improved lots over the past 3 to 5 years it really went in the tank when it lost all that water in the late 80s early 90sbut the fishing really has improved and most people we see up there are all fly fishing now no more pots and pans which is a good thing we will be back up there from the 25th of june untill the 30th will give another report then [/list]
Thanks, Oswald. I would really love to see some pics. You can register in our gallery for a free online album so you can host pics if you like. Looking forward to that report. I'll be fishing elsewhere in the province that week, but would love to know how you guys did. Good luck.

The Mayor of Peterhope Lake

Hey Oswald! Was your Dad known as "the mayor of Peterhope"? This was many years ago but a couple buddies of mine got lost on the Peterhope/plateau road and a guy who called himself "The mayor" gave them some directions and some gas and got them out of a jam. They still talk about this guy and how he saved their bacon.
they have called him that but i don't think it was him the gentleman they are thinking about is aguy name george i can't remember his last name but he had a dog named howdy and a sign on his motorhome that said the mayor of peterhope lake he lived in penticton but now has past on we were up threr this past week and the fishing was slow my dad fishes out of a yellow mirrorcraft mostly at the far end
G
Thanks Os, I will ask my buddies if the "mayor" had a dog and motorhome. I was thinking of going fishing tomorrow but there will likely be a million yahoos out on the lake cutting each other off and yelling at each other. Maybe i will go just for the entertainment value of watching those guys get into it. There is something inherantly sick in that but what it is.. i cant think of. Have a good weekend all.
anyone fish peterhope recently (sept 10-20)...how did you do
