Hey guys,
I just put in a order for a islander steelheader centerpin and was wondering which sage cp i should get the 3106 or the 3113. I fish the vedder , chehalis and the thompson. Any info whould be greatly appreciated.
P.s How much backing should i put on my reel and what is the best kind.

Cheers

Hey Slay !!

With regards to your Sage question. Since you included the Thompson river on your list of rivers to fish I would personally go with the 3113 MB.
It matches up really well with an Islander Steelheader and the extra length and backbone will come in handy when battling those powerful Steelhead.
Whether you go with the 3106 or 3113 , either way your going to have a killer set up.

Good luck with your decision

I have a couple sage2106lb's and 3113lb for the medium flows and a 5120b for the large flows like the T and Skeena. I find that the 3113mb is on the stiff side. I like the softer action when fishing the pin plus I can fire more line out with very little effort. Let the rod do the work. As for the name you just can't beat it. Like Toyota #1 in the world. Just my :2cents: . sage

I think it would depend on how may times you fish the thompson and if you like a lighter or heavier rod . The 3113 is a good all round rod that would take care of everything the vedder or chehalis can brew up .i fish both and end up fishing the 3106 more because it is not as heavy and is more than enough for the valley. I have even fished it up on the T and it is a bit light and short but I still get fish with it. I would suggest getting the rod custom built though because they can match either rod better to your hand and the reel. Many of the cookie cutter rods lack the personality and dont fit the fisherman as well as the customs. Its well worth the extra in the long run.

I personnally would go with the 3113 for the pin. I own a couple in the cp version and the baitcastor. My new favorite rod.I have landed many 20 lb fish with it and was happy with its performance. For the T I use my 3106 baitcastor. It's a little shorter but has a little more back bone for those long hook sets. Although I almost brought out the 3113 today, but decided not too.

The 3113 has very good sensativity and a back bone to handle the bigger fish. Go with the 3113 dude!
