Hi GC,
I've recently bought a Sage VT2 5 wt, so far I'm really enjoying it. It is very easy to handle, smooth uptake and easy to load. It is ever so light so I can cast into the evening without killing my shoulder. Suffice to say I cringed when paying for it, I think it was $460 or so.

I don`t save a lot by building the few rods I have as I wind up buying better components for the blank 8) I do save money by using boutique blanks like Dan Craft offers.

You can build your own rods pretty easily as long as you keep it basic. Start off on a lighter weight Tiger Eye or Forecast blank and you could build a really decent trout rod for around $100.00.

I haven`t even dwelled into this territory ;D
