I got a good deal on 2 new scotty 1119 pro pack down riggers. They have everything you need, but the only thing my son is concerned about is that they have a fixed 24" boom. Does anyone think these are too short.

And I thought my wife was the one with issues about things being too short. :-X

A lot depends on what size boat are you using them on Conan??? If most cases you should be OK though. I believe there is infor on the Scotty site about that issue ...

I have a 542 Campion with 24's mounted 22 inches from the stern and I have no problem. I run a small kicker on the port side and unless I make a tight turn to starboard when running with the tide, the downrigger lines never come anywhere near the boat let alone the motor.
