is there a trick to dubbing on seals fur? Im having troubles getting it to spin on easily :confused: and find it wants to spin off when wrapping tying it. so i just loop it then :cheers:

Is it 100% seals fur? I've had the same problem and did the same thing you did. I've also found that if you add 20% hares mask dubbing and mix it in a coffee grinder, it will dub fine.

I think it has something to do with the seal fur grows (making it waterproof). Then again, I've been wrong before.

I just wanted to know if a dubbing loop was a good way to go because my book doesnt to do one but it does work alot better :beerchug:

and yes its real seals fur. I read online (when searching for dubbing tricks) that people use seals fur because the light can shine through the material which makes it a great material for dubbed flies :thumbup:

i dont know the name of the tool but it makes it super easy :thumbup: same little tool that Prof. used in his Video about dubbing techniques :thumbup: great vids and well worth checking out for the new tyer
