Standing @ the river, the last bend and I see nothing. There is some major bank and in stream work going on. Squamish nation is doing it. The work is from the Parkway down (smithrite run) and it looks good. Banks have been shored up and the stetch has been tiered to provide better flow and better opportunities for the fish to move and for anglers to explore. It'll be done Sept. 30.hopefully the fish will be here by then.

Hey! I was working in that river; doing the upgrades to the banks etc... The job was actually put on hold but we'll back on September 28... Probably won't be done until mid-Oct.. Just wanted to give you the heads up... Actually most of the work is going to involve finishing the "rip-rap" on the top half of the West bank.... Very little to no work is left in the actual river...

Not really sure... Personally, I've never fished this river so I can't say... What I can tell you is that all of the work directly in the river is done... The rest of the work remaining is on the old Smithrite side, just finishing shoring up the bank... The Parkside is all open.. Cheers

well the river bed has had some pretty major changes. The most obvious of which is a new channel that will fill when the river rises. the river bed is no longer a wide, flat, shallow wade. BE CAREFUL. the new channel is at least 7 feet deep. In high water it will be a great place to fish as it willl provide slower water for the fish to move upstream and as it's on the park side it will make accessing the fish much easier. when river levels are lower the river follows it's normal path. the run itself has had a few rocks added. in that provide new pockets, riffles and holes to explore. Once the planting is done and has had a chance to grow in it should look great. overall i would say that it will be an improvement all round. this river needs all the help it can get as the runs are small. these imrovments will help.

Hmmmm, ribwart, you say the fish are right around the corner. Now I'm trying to figure out whether you're speaking literally or figuratively. If literally, that could mean beach fishing around Cates Park ;D On the other hand figuratively is still good too!

Are they around Cates Park now? Cheers all :)
