Hey everyone, does anyone here ever fish shawnigan lake with a fly rod? What patterns do you use, where do you tend to fish for trout this time of year ( shallow shoals, drop offs, weed beds) and can you even catch them out from the boat at this time of year, i've been out a few time with no luck.

Thanks again

I think it's safe to say for the most part our south coastal lakes hit a winter doldrum. Fishing is typically on the slower side, with not much going on for hatch activity and colder temps. Sometimes a warm sunny stretch can turn things on with a slight jump in water temps. Best bets if you want to try your luck on a warmer sunny day would be, small nymph patterns such as Half Backs, Pheasant Tail Nymphs, and of course small Leech patterns. Of course another great option would be to chase Cutthroat along the beaches.

Finder:cheers:
