yes, it was way longer, and way more frustrating than Team Canada's scoreless drought. Today, I fufilled a lifelong ambition to land the phantom vedder steel. hooked one at peach rd., in a slick behind a couple of boulders, got it close to shore to see if it was wild, but I guess it didn't like the look of me, and spat the hook. guess it was a good thing, though, because it only looked to be 8 or 10 lb., and I would hate to have to of bonked it as it was only 8:00 am. didn't see anyone else touch anything in 3 hrs, so I went up river a little. fished at the beaver dam, but by that time it was sleeting, cold and there was a 40 knot breeze. went back downriver, fished across and above lickman, third cast, fish on. Landed a nice little chrome bullet, just under 10#, only took about 50 hours, and probably 3000 casts, but little doe or not, what a relief.

Nice work! I knew it would happen soon. I have always believed in persistance, but 500 hrs. and 500 casts equates to a lot of gas for the car and a lot of beer at the pub and a lot of lost gear in the river.....I figure that baby ought to be worth around $100.00 per lb. at least!!........LOL.Ortho........Comin' to the fishout on the 12th?

how right you are, Ortho!!! in fact, the first person that I called with the good news was my wife. she was getting awful suspicious at all of this fishing, and no dinner on the table. with my newfound confidence, it's looking good for the fishout! see you there!
