A couple questions for you pro's! Does anyone know what to expect on the 1st, as far as conditions, crowds etc...? Also roughly how long of a drive from Vancouver to the river? Thanks..

2 hours from the river. I've heard that the river fishes a little better towards the end of July. And with the colder spring we've had, I'd imagine that will hold true for this year for sure.

You could still do fairly well fishing nymphs though. I'd fish a pheasant tail nymph in a size 14 if I were going this week-end, until I saw a sign of something else hatching.

Good Luck, Nates

First thing I'll use on Sunday is a #8 river dragon nymph. Saw some pics of the river from last Sunday. A little high, but very fishable. I will be heading to the upper river. Plan to be there by 10:00. If the water isn't too high, try stimulators, and para adams.

I find when the rivers or creeks are high use something with flash and lots of colour, some sort of attractor pattern. my theory is the food is rushing past most of the fish and they dont get a chance to see it or chase it and you dont get as many, but if you slowly present a clourful patern with some flash they will go after it for sure. well that is the way i do it in the okanagan and it seems to work. just a thought though. has anyone made the trip up river this year yet? how are road conditions?
