I am wanting to buy a smaller reel for the smaller river systems. I currently have a Calcutta 400 and Abu 6500 C4 but want something a smaller. Just want to know what the popular consensus is. I have heard the low profile ones like a chronarch or curado are the way to go from some people, and others have said the calcutta 250 or daiwa luna 253 from others. Just curious about pros and cons of each and what people prefered and why. Thanks

You could use the low profile reels on bigger systems aswell. You don't need any more than 100 tds of 15# unless you're fishing the skeena or the fraser. Low profiles are alot more comfortable to fish with.

I love the rod. It's light and stiff as a nail.
Coupled with the chronach, it can be fished with a float, spoon, spinner, off a down rigger and recently I taped a fly reel on the end after breaking my 8wt. For fishin a float, it is only 9' and is great for in close and pocket water but a little short if you want to reach the other side (Vedder). The blank is built for Tarpon and this combo has handled everything BC has to offer! The drag is very smooth and the low profile is easy on the hand after a 1000+ casts. ;D
This set-up goes everywhere with me. If I was stranded on an island, I'd want this combo and a few hooks!
