So many fish, yet so few biting

I couldn't believe the number of pinks in and around Duncan bar today. It was amazing to see them coming up in large schools.

What amazed me more was the lack of bite. Very little action. In 2.5 hours, I saw maybe 6 fish landed. I tried chucking everything I had at them, and still, I only had two solid hits and lost them both.

Anyone else experience this "phenomenon"? Is there a reason why are they biting less now than a week or so ago?

Yeah it was a bit odd so many fish but not so many hits, i was there from 1:30 till 5:30ish and at around 4:00 i hit 6 of them on the fly .... same kind of story today as well, a few fish but didnt hit any till the last hour i was there
That's fishing for you. Some days they'll bite anything, other days they won't even look at your lure.
I have had the exact same thing happen to me last week. It was kind of funny seeing everyone chucking spoons at them and only the odd one would take it.
When they are on the move they're all business ie. the flood, when the tide starts to drop and
the out flow more previllent, they slow down and have a look around. Marko
There is about a foot visability on the Fraser in the chilliwack area, would that be a factor with not as many pinks hitting the spoons?
I had the same problem on Peg Leg last saturday. Fished for about 2 hours. Had one solid bump and that was it. saw about 4 landed in that time. They were rolling everywhere though.
When fish are actively showing themselves...rolling, splashing, etc its been my experience that they aren't too interested in pursuing any of your offerings. Suspect they are looking forward to a bit of nookie :naughty:

Once they settle down, the hits will come. Why they 'settle down' at different parts of the day is anyones guess but thankfully they do.

I agree with that theory
Me three Rivahman, they could be all excited they're all back together again, a reunion, staging. Like a bunch of school kids all hyped up & back on the playground. I've seen this happen numerous times. One day fishing the Pink Apartment at Ambelside thousands were jumping & splashing everywhere, hitting the side of the boat no less. :pissed: Not one hit! They're just thinkin' bout love :yummy:
