Question for all you island folk;

Is the Sooke area (bluffs etc) fishable with a smaller boat at all? I have a 15 ft welded aluminum with 30 horses which I use in Pt Alberni, Port Hardy and Campbell River. I know that "depending on the weather" is the obvious answer here, but are we talking open ocean swells (20ft plus, deep-vee fibreglass) or are there some protected bays/ coves closer to shore that might produce results (and be safe)?

I have never been to Sooke and would love to come and check it out!

sooke bluffs are allright later in the summer or now for the winter springs. also you could head out to the left side of the sooke harbour mouth and fish possesion point/secratary island which is pretty good for the big springs all season. keep and eye on the weather youll be fine, we see smaller boats out here! :shock:

with the boat you have it wouldnt be a problem to run west to otter point (that is where you see the 10-12ftrs, tagged: the beach fleet)
