Ya know, if you'd only show a little initiative, you might look at some of the other threads and find the info you are asking. Try peeking at the thread just below this one. I can't believe how little work some folks are willing to do to find fish. ??? ??? ??? ???

Hi Professori

The thread is four days old, I did look at that.
Not being rude... and its to late now. But why not ask your question in that thread thus bringing it to the top again rather than yet another stave thread? I might be going there tomorrow not sure yet though.

I should have some reports coming in from 2-3 flows tonight or tomorrow.... Hope the Coho show up for more than just the Vedder. What a great year that river is having except for the boneheads on the river.... ::) ::)

Cheers, Rob

Are the Chum in the Stave in good shape?

I am planning on fishing the Fraser next weekend and am wondering if the Chum are in good shape. Also, how is the launch at Fort Langley? I live in the interior so I don't get to go fishing in the Fraser very often.

I was on the Stave, west side, yesterday. What a show. I didn't believe the posts about the amounts of people there but now I know. There must have been about 100 cars along the side of the road.

Anyway had a great time pulling in chum and watching the snagfest going on. 95% of the people were bottom bouncing with over 5 foot leaders on. People asked "how come you seem to get them in the mouth most of the time?"

Wacthed this one fellow in sneakers and a constantly lit cigarette hanging out of his mouth with about a 30lb leader, bbing and then horsing them into shore. several times the snag came out launching his 3oz weight into the trees behind him. If it would have hit someone in the head it would have killed him.

He though he some some type of great fisherman the way he was carrying on.

Some one told him to smarten up and watch out and all he said, "If you don't like it stay out of my way."

UNBELIEVABLE

That's really sad...

It's a shame the quality of angler plying our rivers now... It's been in the last 5 years or so that it's gotten really bad, but this year has been INSANE.

Time to close retention of chum and pinks...

Soon there will be nothing to kill, and 'they' will all go away, and leave us the hell alone!

Very well said Nicole...the kill fishery of chum & pink seemed like a good idea at the time but look at it now. The poor Stave...I hope 'they' leave it alone.

I have been on the stave the last few days and yes it is bad. I chucked flies in the toilet bowl the last 2 days for coho with no results. Did manage some clean chum put all males so released. Inch creek was there today for their brood stock capture and man did they do well. They released all springs. jack springs and chum. They only kept the coho. Boy where there some big hoes in their nets. Also some real monster springs in good shape. I was also surprised by how many spring jack there where. Went and fished furhter down far away from the crowds  and could see a ton of fresh fish moving in so it should be good this weekend and next week for sure.
