Steelhead Anyone ?

Was at the Pointa Vista restaurant last week for some mid day grub. During a conversation with one of the regulars the topic of steelhead came up. It had been a slow day for Coho, Spring and Chum mostly. The
tug of an early winter run was the height of our meal.
Neither gent that was fishing that day had or even expected such a beauty nor did they anticipate the quarry with tag's. Knowing this is a rare treat but does happen ,ie. doe in my avatar, What is the earliest winter or latest summer you have caught?

Early December for me in the lowermainland but late October on the Island...

A good friend of mine has hooked winter fish on a very popular flow in the lower mainland on a few occasions in early November.... all wild fish. :thumbup:

no real story to be told, just had a brief encounter with a fish that did not act anything like a salmon. hit my bait on 4 different offerings and when finally hooked it did what any steelhead would do PANIC. not saying that i did, because i did not land this fish, but if i where a betting man i would say that i had a brush with steel on oct 20 2008.

December 3rd and fourth back to back a few years ago by peach. Mid november many years ago at the confrence run.

my first ever Steely was also my earliest. Mid November in the Chehalis about 5yrs ago. I lost it about 3 feet in the air after a good battle while fishing for coho. Everyone was yelling STEELHEAD!!! when i hooked it and it went 4feet airborne

like 3 times right away.
