It seems to me the ones that are out there flossing are new to the sport and don't have alot of ethical education. Look at the the returning numbers alone, what are springs at 15-20 thousand in the system through the fall, which is what most flossers target. How many steelhead do we get per year 3 maybe 4 thousand. These fish need all the protection from illegal, unethical practises we can provide.
Steelhead are the holy grail of the west coast, everything that is involved is more precise, your presentations, approach to the water, your bait, hell even your gear has to be in top shape. Fishing during the season is different, anglers you meet on the water are generally more friendly, there is rotation fishing practiced, there is concern for the runs, and the health of the fish stocks.
If you think DFO gives a rat crap about this please put your head back in the sand. With them purposing implementations on the fraser to protect weak stocks nothing has been said to define ethical and sporting practices. The implementations are also designed for the fraser, nothing has been said about the tribs yet. Alot of things that surround our sport is left to common sense and promoting ethical practises and is for the most part left to be self policed by the individual angler, ie when you catch your quota you leave common sense.
Mob mentality is not the answer, but if a a photo of someone using questionable methods is used to promote proper practices I'm all for it.
T & A can I come along I promise I'll be good
